I've always been jealous of these type of creatures:
So I thought "What's stopping me!? I too can loaf around for days".
Therefore, my first excursion was to an area called Portocolom in Mallorca, Spain. Where I did this:
* Woke up whenever I wanted to, to this view from my balcony.
* Ate breakfast with this view.
* Sat here and read.
*Swam here.
* Enjoyed the view from the fitness center.
* Ate
* Got lost on walks trying to get closer to this lighthouse:
I did that for three full days.
......and that's it as far as Spain is concerned...
Next I was off to London, England, where I met up with one of my favorite travel buddies, Jamie!
We were in London only about two days, but we did as much as we could! Jamie has been to London many-a-times, and was quite the resourceful guide.
We saw "Let it Be" at the Savoy Theatre in the West End. It was very well done, and made me feel like I was actually a "crazed for The Beatles female" in the 60s.
I can now check "See the Globe Theatre" off of my list.
Here is the British Museum. Such an overwhelming place! Countless exhibits. However, the most interesting to me...was the Rosetta Stone.
I have to say my favorite thing in London, was having afternoon tea and just chatting for hours with my co-traveler!
The London Eye
Buckingham Palace and changing of the guards
Though it was a short time, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment in London, and intend to go back in the future.
I also hope to go back to what was my third major destination for the summer excursions: Scotland!
Basically, Jamie and I road tripped across the country:
We road tripped to:
Glasgow:
Kelvingrove Museum (really, one of my favorites.)
Jamie's mum's for a fabulous dinner:
...might I add how absolutely freeeeeeeezing Scotland was in early July?! It was imperative for me to purchase a jacket to ensure my survival for the week.
The Stirling Castle, in Stirling:
The Highlands:
St. Andrew's:
View from the tower of a cathedral's ruins.....not only is St. Andrew's known for the origin of golf, but also as the meeting place of Prince William and Kate.
Edinburgh:
Edinburgh Castle
So there is my brief summary of my summer excursions!
Next, I was headed back to Moscow just for one evening before flying to the states.
I was certainly super sad to leave Moscow, but I know I will be back in the future for visits!
Did I tell you that I made quite the entrance into my country? I'll just say I arrived to check-in at JFK during my layover ONE MINUTE before check-in closed. Then, I arrived to my gate AS they were boarding my plane...soaking wet, and covered in mud.
If you want to know the whole "laugh at Gina's expense" story, ask me later.
